Grilla Grills Team Spotlight: Jenna Johnston

Jenna is the Marketing Coordinator at Grilla Grills but wears a lot of hats, also helping with social media, internal communications, event coordination, and daily operations management. We’re here to learn a little bit more about her:

1. Where is your hometown?

Haslett, Michigan. East Lansing area.

2. Tell us about how you came to Grilla Grills.

I attended Grand Valley State University right down the road in Grand Rapids, where I studied Health Communications and minored in Advertising & PublicRelations. So how did I end up in marketing working for a pellet grill company? I can only attribute it to fate. As I was interviewing for jobs right after graduation, something just clicked here and I knew it was the place for me. I could tell that the people here were passionate, innovative, and just genuinely good people, which is exactly the type of work environment I wanted to surround myself in. I’ve learned so much about the retail & grill market, and have come to love the sense of community that the BBQ industry inspires. 

3. What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love content development. Taking an ordinary story and putting a different angle or spin on it is so fun for me. In college we are somewhat limited by our instructors and guidelines, but here it’s almost like anything is possible and anything we dream up in the office, we can put to action. And that’s really exciting to be apart of. [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

4. What are you doing when you’re not at work?

23 year old girl stuff. I like to run and workout, I go through stages where I get really into hot yoga. Fishing in the summer, skiing in the winter. I’m a big reader and love a good happy hour. [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

5. Where is your favorite place to visit?

After I graduated, I took a 2 week trip to Italy & Greece. It was the best experience of my life. I would go back to Santorini, Greece in a heartbeat. [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

6. What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

I’ve been blessed with the most amazing parents as role models and have had several amazing coaches and teachers who have taught me the value of hard work. I’m a strong believer that a strong work ethic is the key to success. One of my favorite sayings is “In everything you do, do with all your heart.” [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

7. What is your favorite thing to grill?

I’m still a rookie on the grill, but I recently tried this shrimp skewer recipe with veggies & pineapple and it was AMAZING.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

8. Grilla, Silverbac, or Kong?

The design of the Grilla is so unique, I’m going to have to say Grilla.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

9. Is a hotdog a sandwich?

Who wrote these interview questions, anyway? 😉 I’d say it meets the sandwich criteria. [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

10. If you had a pet gorilla, what would you name it?
