This is not your average Sunday evening. This is Super Bowl Sunday. This is the Christmas of NFL football season. And this Super Bowl Sunday calls for SUPER tasty party food.
Whether you’re hosting the party or just bringing a dish to pass, Grilla Grills has got you covered on a meal that will be sure to score big with your guests and fellow party goers. Now, a few things to keep in mind as you prepare:
‘Twas the night before the Super Bowl and all through the house …
People are getting ready for the big game! Duh! Marinating meats, filling wood pellet hoppers, and stocking up on charcoal are all proactive steps you can take to cut down on prep time and keep your game day as stress-free as possible. Don’t forget to make sure your grill is clean and ready to go for a long day of cooking. It also wouldn’t hurt to have some extra cleaning supplies on hand. If your guests are anything like our friends and family, your furniture is subject to major potential spillage.
No need to get in over your head when it comes to complex Super Bowl recipes. Some of the best Super Bowl foods make it easy to add variety without going overboard. Decided on chicken wings? Have a few different sauces to choose from. Hamburgers, hot dogs and/or tacos? A build-your-own bar with plenty of toppings will do the trick. If you anticipate some vegetarian guests, satisfy everyone with some grilled veggie skewers. These foods are reliable crowd pleasers and, what’s more, they’re easy to customize so anybody can find a flavor they love!
A good rule of thumb is this: You can never have too many snacks! While your grilled dish is likely to be the main attraction, adding the right finger foods, appetizers and sides can be key for a fun and low-stress Super Bowl party. Chips, salsa, pretzels, guacamole and queso are always easy game day staples. You can also impress your guests with a meat and cheese platter or pre-made veggie tray.
Finally, remember there’s no shame in going store-bought, so don’t hesitate to pick up a container of hummus or spinach artichoke dip at the grocery store if you’ve noticed your snack table needs filling out. Oh, and a yummy dessert can be just what you need to finish off the night, so check out our selection of dessert recipes that you can make on your Grilla Grill!
Portion sizes can be tricky, especially with an event that could last most of the day. You might be wondering how much food to make. An easy solution would be to get a headcount to determine the number of people who will be attending, and share that with others who are bringing dishes. Don’t be afraid to accept others’ offers to bring a dish to pass around. This will keep your mind at ease about running out of food. And, hey, what’s the worst that could happen? You’ll have lots of leftovers. Hello lunch for the week!
Wood pellet grills are especially handy for parties because of their set-it-and-forget-it functionality. You don’t want to spend the whole Super Bowl grilling. With a pellet grill, there’s no need to leave the game mid-play to babysit the grill outside. Take this time to have fun and enjoy the game with your friends and family. Nothing brings people together better than some BBQ and football!
Having trouble finding the perfect Super Bowl recipe for your party? This chicken wing recipe hits just the right balance of crispy outside and tender inside, with a hint of smoky flavor that your guests will go crazy for.
Take the chicken wings (or the parts of your choice) and place them in a large zip-top bag. Add the baking powder and shake well to coat. The baking powder will help crisp the wings on the grill. Let them sit in the bag for about 15 minutes before removing. Remove the wings from the bag and shake off any excess baking powder. Lay them on a large baking sheet. Season generously with the rub. Combine the barbeque sauce with the hot sauce and mix well.
Preheat either your Silverbac, Kong, or Grilla to 300 degrees.
Cook wings until they are done (185 degrees internal temp), turning them often to keep them from burning. Once you remove the wings from the heat, toss them in the sauce. They will stay crispy for several minutes in the sauce.
As for what sauces to use, that’s up to you: Buffalo wing sauce is pretty much a must-have, but BBQ wings are also a classic, and other flavors such as Asian sauces are great for adding a little variety. Of course, make sure to remember dipping sauces too: Blue cheese sauce is a perennial favorite that goes great with hot wings, and our Grilla Savory Ranch Dip is a next-level take on classic ranch dressing.
South of the Border Sweet Potato Salad: Slice some sweet potatoes for the grill and chop up some salad ingredients for a salad that’s as ready for a summer BBQ as it is a February weekend. We suggest making the cilantro-lime crema for this dish a few days in advance, and it’ll go great with nachos too.
Smoked Buffalo Chicken Dip: This flavor-packed cheese dip just might be the reigning champion of crowd-pleasing Super Bowl foods! Our Buffalo chicken dip recipe brings an explosion of zesty, cheesy flavor with smoked chicken breasts, three different cheeses, and of course your favorite hot sauce. Serve with some tortilla chips and watch it disappear!
Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeno Poppers: Speaking of disappearing appetizers, here’s another one that’s almost guaranteed to be gone by halftime. These legendary Super Bowl snacks are spicy and smoky perfection right from the grill, and we dare you to pair them with hot sauce.
Smoked Chicken Meatballs: Add a little Italian flair to your game day spread with these incredibly snackable meatballs. They’re crammed full of delicious ingredients like parmesan cheese and Grilla’s own What Da Cluck seasoning, all with less fat and calories than traditional beef meatballs. Stick some toothpicks in them for the perfect appetizer!
Smoked Pork Shoulder: You’ll get plenty of pork out of this recipe to use for sliders, tacos and sandwiches. Let the meat cook all day, and it’ll be tender and ready to eat by kickoff.
Simple Pulled Pork Pizza: Wait, you can make pizza on the grill? Absolutely! If you’ve got a pizza stone, load up a crust with some sauce, cheese, toppings and a delicious sprinkling of pulled pork. What do you get? A delicious pie and one less delivery for the local pizza guy to make. Make sure to grab a variety of toppings — pepperoni, sausage and some veggies such as onions and black olives are a great place to start.
No Flip Burgers: You don’t even have to leave the TV and find your spatula when you’ve got these patties on a Silverbac grill. Whether you’re swapping the beef for sausage, turkey or veggie patties, you get to add your own twist.
