If you’re planning on doing low and slow this is a piece of cooking hardware that is needed. With the price of beef (Meat) Going up you want to make sure you don’t burn everything you throw on the grill. Do yourself a favor and purchase this when you get your Kong.
Getting the lump charcoal lit was a little challenging, but an old standby charcoal did the trick. I had to call my son, Jarrod, to understand that I needed to heat soak the Kamado to 600 or 700 degrees, and then adjust the temperature to the actual smoking temperature (325 degrees F). Four hours later, I took the bird out of the Kamado and my family enjoyed the best smoked turkey I have ever prepared.
Wrapped in foil and used when I cooked pizza 3 times, ribs once. Was taking out of Kong and putting back in box with styrofoam packing and noticed a chunk of ceramic in the bottom of my Kong, went to check my diffuser and it was broken in half
