Homemade Baked Beans

“Beans Beans the magical fruit”, and you know the rest of that one….. Baked beans are a quintessential part of any backyard BBQ and they taste so much better when you make them yourself. This recipe is rich in flavor, hearty in substance, and off the charts on the scale of yummy! A very easy dish to put together, this is guaranteed to be a family favorite for a long time!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup red kidney beans
  • 1 cup great northern white beans
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 bottle dark beer
  • 1/2 cup red Grilla Grills Thick and Bold BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup4 tablespoon dark brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 pound bacon, cooked and roughly chopped
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 onion, diced

Directions

Soak the beans in water overnight. Cook the bacon, chop, and set aside. Preheat your grill to 225 degrees. Combine the rest of the ingredients in a disposable foil baking container and stir until thoroughly incorporated. Cook uncovered for 4 hours, remove from grill, and cover with aluminum foil. Return to grill and cook for 4 more hours, or until thick. Add the bacon, stir well and enjoy!
