Red-Eye Gravy

This southern gravy is a sure fire way to get the blood pumping! Made from pork drippings and coffee, this unique style gravy pairs perfectly with all things pork, especially ham. Give this recipe a try and ENJOY!!!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups, pork stock
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons of instant coffee
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions

In a sauce pan heat the butter and add the flour; stir constantly for five minutes to make a roux.

Add the stock a half cup at a time and whisk until thoroughly incorporated with the roux.

Stir in the instant coffee until fully dissolved.

Season with the pepper.

Serve immediately.
