Smoked Crab Cakes

Who does not like crab cakes?! They can be served as an appetizer, an entrée, as a sandwich, sit on top of a salad, or even served for brunch as a benedict. This recipe has few ingredients and lets the crab shine, so give it a go and ENJOY!

Ingredients

  • 1 eight oz. container of lump crab
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1/8 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay
  • 2 teaspoons dried mustard
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • Zest of one lemon

Directions

Preheat smoker to 180 degrees.

Add all ingredients to a medium bowl and mix together until well incorporated.

Form into 2 oz. patties and place on a sheet tray.

Place the tray into the smoker and smoke the crab cakes for exactly 30 minutes.

Remove from the smoker and heat the oil in a skillet.

Add the smoked crab cakes and lightly fry until golden on all sides.
