Yes! Simply crank your heat above 450°. For extremely defined grill marks, we also offer custom Grill Grates made specifically for the Grilla OG.
Before you get to smoking, it’s important to season your smoker to remove any manufacturing oils. Run your grill for 45 minutes at 450°, then either shut it off or start smoking. Refer to the manual or this video for additional instructions.
Nope! Any food-grade wood pellets will work. We recommend quality hardwood pellet fuel instead of alder. For tips on finding and using pellets, search our blog.
Different cook times are not needed. One of the awesome features of these grills is that they are built for convection-style cooking. This means heat is evenly dispersed throughout the grill, so all of your food will receive the same amount of heat, thus, no need to extend cook times.
About 15 minutes. Once you turn the power on, you have plenty of time to head back inside and prep your food, by the time you return, your grill should be just about at the temperature that you set.
At an average cooking temperature of 250°, pellets burn at about 1 lb/hour. The Grilla OG hopper holds 20 lbs of pellets and will cook for around 10-20 hours at that temp.
You bet! Our pellet grills are come standard with a double wall Internal Steel Thermal Jacket. This heavy-duty design features a double wall liner for more efficient cooking when the temperature drops below 55° F: up to 33% more efficient than single wall pellet smokers (which most are by the way). That means you're going to burn less fuel in cold weather, you don't need thermal blankets and you have a full range of operating temperatures in any climate. No more messy smoky blanket storage because you've got the all season performance of grills that cost twice as much.
The best wood pellet grill should have an excellent range of features and a reasonable price. The Silverbac, Grilla and Chimp offer an unmatched level of construction and technology at a price point that won’t break the bank. From stainless steel construction (where it counts) to the game changing WiFi enabled Alpha Connect controller, you won’t find a better pellet grill for the price.
Cooking on a pellet grill will generally yield lower-calorie, lower-fat results than pan-frying or deep-frying the same foods.
Pellet grills use electricity to power an auger and fan. Pellets move from the hopper to a firepot where an igniter rod sparks a flame; the fan circulates heat and smoke for convection cooking. Your Alpha Connect 2.0 controller automates the process so you can focus on the food.
